Organic Aloe Vera Juice

A month ago, I discovered I could drink Aloe Vera juice — surprise!

Thanks to my friend Sara who has been drinking aloe for over 4 years. She has not fallen sick with anything so far and she attributes her good health to aloe juice. In addition to aloe might have stainless steel genes. In any case, she introduced me to Aloe Vera juice for a healthier living. Preventative medicine is the best kind of medicine.

I use the Aloe Vera gels and creams for skin health, and now I drink the juice. Every morning on an empty stomach I mix it with a glass of room temperature water. Also I drink it every night before bed. You can also mix it into fruit juices and blends. For 4 weeks that I have been following this regimen I have a much better digestive system, soothed intestines, less bloating, and an overall well being. This is what led me to write about this experience and share it with more people.

Like I did, you can easily google organic pure aloe juice and health benefits to learn a ton. Please don’t fall for the sugared fancy drinks that contain aloe. For health benefits I recommend the real deal. Don’t drink aloe that is not made for intake. There are two brands that make organic aloe juice for consumption that I can recommend:

Pharm-Aloe: 99.7%, no color, slight taste

Holistic: 100% aloe, no color, no taste

Research published in the “Journal of Environmental Science and Health” notes that aloe vera contains anti-bacterial, anti-viral and anti-fungal properties that aid the immune system to cleanse the body of toxins and invading pathogens. Additionally, aloe vera helps to balance the immune system to reduce the effects of seasonal allergies, rheumatoid arthritis and other inflammatory immune disorders. As in many herbal remedies, truth be told there is other research that is also inconclusive about aloe juice, so you can make your own personal decision after you research it for yourself.

I am a firm believer in checking with your doctor and holistic medicine practitioner before taking supplements, especially if you are on various medications. Last thing you need is a negative interaction with your medication.

Thank you Sara for turning me to a healthier living. Raising my glass of aloe juice and water mix to good health for all of us!

Glazing Class at MCS

20130525-183809.jpgWhat keeps our brains youthful must be curiosity and learning new things we care about. Today was a day like that — we took a class in glazing from Jennifer at MCS.

Three hours of fascinating information that left us wanting more. So much that she decided to schedule part two.20130525-184500.jpg
We started with basic chemistry, history of where all this came from, and what glaze is made of. People for centuries have been making pots and vessels. Jennifer and Allison showed examples of old and new to educate us. I am always so impressed by how amazing something made 5000 years ago is so much better than many made today. Especially some of the Chinese pottery and ceramic glazing is just exquisite. We also learned that salt glazing was invented in Germany. One day, I would like to go see it done where it was born.

Part of the lecture was spent critiquing glazed pieces we had made. Jennifer called out all the good and the BAD! You can see Isaac was a good sport about being made an example:

The tips and tricks we learned were great. For instance, how to spray a fine mist over areas you want a thinner coverage of glaze. Can’t wait to apply what we learned.
