Maldives: Gangehi Island Resort – full report!

This is a small island in middle of the ocean, only 25 min by seaplane from Male. Likely you will stop at other islands before you get to it. What’s small? To give you an idea – we walk around the island in 5-10 min max.

The island has no locals, only the resort. The locals, Indians, Sri Lankans etc that you see are the staff. The resort is owned by Italians so you will be in luck if you speak Italian.

We recommend this island to people who seek complete quiet and peace, or families with children. There is no nightlife, or excessive crowds or activities. Perfect for relaxing and enjoying the pure nature. Also this happens to be one of the cheaper islands; but you get what you pay for. If you like to be attended hand and foot – don’t visit this island. Set expectations accordingly – for us the food got boring. Tonight they have a Maldivian dinner so we hope that will be exciting.

There are light activities like snorkeling, diving, kayaks, spa, and daily yoga. Highly recommend the yoga at 5:15 everyday, here is a look:

What a peaceful setting to practice your daily yoga.

Rooms are decent and kept clean. You get fresh beach towels and good spa quality toiletries. However, you won’t find free water! Yes you heard it right not even a glass of water. The water in the room as well as anywhere else will cost you at least 2 or 3 euros per 1.5ltr bottles. Keep hydrating 😉

There is one restaurant, one buffet, and a bar. Prices are all in Euros. We prefer half board to full board as we don’t eat all day long. Also we found that this is cheaper than the full board. Btw don’t expect great service, you maybe sitting for more than 5 minutes at the bar before you see a menu or someone you can hail down. We are not sure if this is unique to this island or not – we will let you know from our next island!

Best way you can enjoy this unreal Maldivian colors beauty is with lot of protection. Bring a lot of sunscreen – buying it here is not a good idea, since it is triple the cost. We sunbathed in the shade for the first two days and still got color.

There is a great sandbar that is exposed every morning and evening perfect for a nice walk and swim. We can’t get over the colors and clarity of water; the sharks, mantas, the little fish that basically swim with us right off the shore.

UPDATE: 06/01.
We got lucky to see the resident small black tip shark right on the beach swimming next to us.

For American Express folks – insist on asking them to use it. They state that they accept this card in their print materials but at front desk they will tell you another story.

We have one regret 😦 we don’t have underwater camera. You should seriously consider buying one before coming to Maldives!! Really ! Really!

Just Move

Please right now get-up and move for even few minutes Yes, just move it is good for you!

Every day at least 30 min. what do you think? laziness?

Well we have 24 hours a day 8 hours sleeping 8 hours work and how about another 8 hours? What are you doing just sitting and watching TV, reading or in front of computer etc.. Okay you can do all of this as well but please for healthier you make sure you keep 1 hour a day moving for lower blood pressure, improve metabolism and levels of cholesterol and triglycerides you can even reduce diabetes risk and risk of certain cancers as well. 30 min. to 1 hour a day can help you to with healthy weight, which can boost all of this benefits even more.

D you know how many hours a day you are spending while sitting?

I think the most of the answers are too much sitting during the rest of the day even some days no exercise.

Our body’s aren’t really structured to be sitting for long periods of time but when we do that our body is just kind of goes into shutdown. So then how about every hour even few minutes of movement and maybe instead of sitting on a chair sitting on an exercise ball that helps strengthen the core while improving balance and flexibility. You can simply stand up, dance, wiggle around, take few steps back and forth, march in place even for 2-3 min. to 5-10 min. will help you a lot to lower blood sugar, triglycerides, cholesterol and waist size even could help with back ache and straighten your posture because when muscles getting stronger they keeps you more supported and straight even looking taller when sitting or standing straight.

Basically it helps to improve your health and your look together in one simple thing just moving! Miraculous but I believe as everything in life if you will not work for it it’s very hard or impossible to get it so if you will move enough you sure will be much much healthier than you are now and don’t be lazy or think about it too much just move where ever you are.

Eggplant Mazza

This easy-tasty hors d’oeuvres  it’s vegan with simple ingredients you can serve it on top of toasted bread or with crispy sticks or crackers.

This recipe is for summer for your health use all veggies at their season please!

Okay let’s get started

1/2 cup organic eggplant (2 small eggplants or 1 big)

1 tbs extra virgin olive oil

1 tsp organic sea salt

1 tbs organic lemon juice

2-3 cloves organic garlic (optional but tasty)

Grill the eggplants on top of grill fire or in the oven

Before doing this please use knife  or use a fork just to make holes in eggplants this will help to stem escape and not exploding while you grill them.

After you grill them immediately remove them from oven and start to peel them for that you can hold them from their stalk if your fingers burning then just divide the eggplant lengthwise and remove the eggplants with spoon.

Immediately add the lemon juice this process will help them stay whiter and prevent them becoming brown.

After you peel them dice them finely or mash them and let them cool completely.

Put salt, and garlic.

Shape it.

Put some scallions or parsley on top drizzle with olive oil.

Hazelnut Cigars

Don’t you believe with this simple ingredients you could make very impressive cookies? Very nice recipe you don’t need a lot of confusing ingredients it’s simple but very tasty and I believe the most of the delicious and impressive things are simple.

It’s your turn to try and see how this simple recipe could turn to a very impressive taste when melting in your mouth.

175 gr. unsalted butter

100 ml. sugar

200 ml. finely grounded hazelnuts

300 ml. flour

2 tbs milk

For top

50 gr. chocolate semi sweet or bitter

Preheat oven 175 c

Mix sugar and butter

Add hazelnuts, flour and milk

Roll it to a finger thick long stick

Cut all of them 5 cm long

Put them on parchment papered pans

Bake them 10 min.

Take them from oven and let them cool completely

Melt the chocolate baine-marie style

Dip one side of them to chocolate

Put them on a rack to cool completely until the chocolate is set

I like more chocolate so I dipped both sides in chocolate but normally to make cigars should be one side dipped or if you don’t like chocolate then don’t dip them so do as you like.
